How to consume everything Google I/O 2015

It's that time of year again. With the 2015 edition of Google I/O just a few hours away, let take a look at what we maybe seeing at this years developer conference.

There are a couple of ways to watch the 9:30am PDT event, but if you're not sure what time that is where you are located then just ask Google Now, or Siri, or Cortana.

  1. I/O page will not only allow you to watch the live stream, but to also see different schedule times. Bonus, if you sign in with your google account you can get also get notifications on your devices.
  2. Now to get the most out of those notifications, you're going to need the I/O app for your phone or tablet.
  3. If you can't watch it live or missed something, the best place to go is Google's Developers YouTube page. Usually within a couple of hours the main conference will be uploaded for your viewing pleasure. The smaller dev events will slowly trickle out in the next couple of days.
  4. You can also view the live stream on this very page. You'll be able to view what other developers are saying in the widget below.

What are they going to talk about?

  • Android M. With lollipop introduced last year, and  November being the first time you could officially purchase the new OS (Nexus 6 or 9), Google is moving to refine their OS with this next dessert name.
  • Permission Control. This is one that should have  been added along time ago. Android Police even have a couple of screenshots to hold you over.
  • Android Auto. With Android Auto officially rolling out in a Hyundai a couple of days ago, this will definitely be talked about during the main event.
  • Fingerprints. Fingerprint scanners have become the new password with phones. It can take only a second to unlock your phone or make a purchase with Google Wallet (or Android Pay if the name gets changed). Buzzfeed is reporting that Google will support the technology with the newest OS. Still, the problem is your fingerprint can be taken without your consent by law while your brain still has the password.
  • Android Wear. With last years debut of android wear and the apple watch release this year, the market is only heating up.
  • Project Fi. While there can be surprises, chromecast, Google Glass airplane jump, Project Fi wasn't even announced at last years event. The MVNO partnership with Sprint and T-Mobile was released only a couple of months ago and is still in beta.
  • Android TV. This was a nice addition to last years event but the Nexus Player hasn't exactly taken off. With the rumors that Apple isn't releasing the Apple Television anytime soon, it's still an interesting landscape. (really, only 8gb in the nexus player was just bad)

So remember, check back later to see what they actually had to say at this years I/O.
