Grand Theft Auto: Madrid - real life GTA5
There's no shortage of fan made movies on the internet. The PurchaseBrothers did a take on Half-Life with Escape From City 17 part 1 and part 2. Dan Trachtenberg did a short on Portal, expanding the world called Portal: No Escape. There was even a grindhouse take on Red Dead Redemption from Silk Dog Films called The Hanging of Bonnie MacFarlane. But there is another company that is trying a more realistic production quality.
Zapruder Pictures, a spanish filmmaking studio, has recreated Grand Theft Auto's game trailer with some amazing live-action locations called Grand Theft Auto: Madrid. So, how accurate is the cinematic trailer? Take a look below.
The recreation has the original trailer overlaid in the left-hand corner of the film, showing the shot-by-shot likeness. A total of 41 shots in 34 locations were need. They even uploaded a making of video, definitely watch just to see how hard a 1min 37sec video can be to make. Here's a hint, parking a van on the sidewalk, in broad daylight, with guys holding guns coming out of the back probably shouldn't be this easy.
Accomplished by two guys, Guillermo de Oliveira and Javier Esteban, they have a couple other short films up their sleeve. Included is Max Payne Valhalla (English and Español) with behind the scenes, and Modern Warfare: Sunrise with of course behind the scenes.
The duo aren't ending their love of bringing video games to real life. An Indiegogo campaign is also in the works to to produce Red Dead Redemption Seth's Gold, a take on Red Dead Redemption the video game that came out in 2010. The new video will be filmed in Almería, Spain, with studio locations that were used by Sergio Leone on movies such as "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and "Once Upon a Time in the West".
