With drones becoming the fun goto gadget of choice for many, it would only seem natural that a racing tournament was bound to happen. This is the first of its kind officially in the U.S. and it starts today.

Drone National Championship is taking place this week at the California State Fair, with race day happening on July 16 and 17. The tournament will be broadcasting on LiveStream, with video from the drones also being shown during the race. You can find the schedule for the event times here.

The race will consist of a type of obstacle course, maneuvering around and through fixed gates and flags. The prize, along with trophies and ribbons, is $25,000 in cash in total.
