Google+ Photos Updated: Auto Awesome Effects and Edit Previous Edits

The hits keep coming. Googler John Nack has released some details about an upcoming update to Google+. Adding the ability to alter previous edits, and adding effects to created Auto Awesome pictures.

Currently when you edit a photo in "the cloud" you overwrite everything. Not so in Google+, all photos are non-destructive. When you edit on Android, iOS or Chrome, you leave off on one, and pick up where you left off on another. Edits are Synced across platforms and originals are always available.

In Nack's post, he states "Today we're making the Chrome experience even more flexible by letting you go back and adjust your previous edits. (Commitment-phobes rejoice!)". He goes on to list examples:

  • Suppose you want to re-crop a photo but leave the other effects alone. Or keep your choice of frames, but turn up the brightness and contrast.
  • Now you can, and you don’t have to start from scratch. Just open your photo in the Chrome editor, click on “Edits,” and you'll be able to adjust the edits you've already made.
  • When you settle on a look you really like, you can also copy those edits and apply them to another photo.

But wait, there's more.  Auto Awesome get a little boost with effects. When uploading land or cityscape photos, Auto Awesome will add effects automatically to your picture. But of course all originals are still there at a click of a button.
