Google plans to release an SDK for wearables in 2 weeks

One of the areas that needs a little focus by Google is wearables, and they know it. Google will be releasing a SDK for Android developers involving wearable technology. What kind of wearable is not known, be it a watch, fitness band, or a jacket?!? Google's head of Android and Chrome Sundar Pichai, told John Battelle at SXSW that the SDK is expected to be given out in two weeks. Now comes the bad news. Pichai said it will be awhile before Google officially released a product. Saying that there will be a period of time to collect developer feedback before moving forward.

All of this makes sense though. With no standard set on how sensors interact with Android, Google is trying to get a common protocol out before there are too many options. At CES, Google announced partnerships with car manufacturers to use Android, trying to accomplish the same goal.

Pichai also talked about the Chromecast. No specific numbers were given, but the $35 device has sold in the millions(US only). 3,000 developers have also registered to use the recently released SDK.
