Dyslexie is a font for people with dyslexia
So how do you help someone that has dyslexia? Well, a graphic designer believes he's found a way. Christian Boer who is dyslexic himself, created a typeface that he says will help people with dyslexia be able to read with less errors. By starting from scratch he was able to see where designers have gone wrong before.
Some of the ways the font was altered:
- lower the letters.
- enlarging the opening in the letters
- lengthening the "sticks"
- slightly bolding of the punctuations and capital letters are just a few
If you happen to be dyslexic, Dyslexie Font also has an extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. The extension allows you to change any eligible text to Dyslexie font, while also having the option to adjust size and color. They also list various book that use the typeface.
Dyslexie Font is free for home use, and is also available for education and businesses by way of a fee.
If that font isn't working for you, you can also try Open Dyslexic, a free and open sourced font.
